Synopsis:

“My name is Harriet Manners, and I will always be a geek.”

The fifth book in the bestselling, award-winning GEEK GIRL series.

Harriet Manners knows almost every fact there is.

She knows duck-billed platypuses don’t have stomachs.
She knows that fourteen squirrels were once detained as spies.
She knows only one flag in the world features a building.

And for once, Harriet knows exactly how her life should go. She’s got it ALL planned out.
So when love is in the air, Harriet is determined to Make Things Happen!
If only everyone else would stick to the script…

Has GEEK GIRL overstepped the mark, and is following the rules going to break hearts all over again?

Review:

Oh, good gracious! Harriet really does it this time!

Does she fall over a ruin whole photo shoots? No.
Does she get covered in some animal droppings or octopus ink like before? No
Does she make a complete mess of plans and end up in completely the wrong place? No

Harriet is completely buzzed that new friends India and Jasper have joined her small group. Now there are 5 of them. Harriet makes badges with TEAM JINTH (Jasper, India, Nat, Toby, Harriet.) She organises, plans, schedules. She has one diary for herself and another to make sure everyone else knows where they're supposed to be. She group text's. She arranges sleep-overs (that never happen), she wants to organise trips to museums and zoos (that never happen), and she really wants to arrange a picnic so badly (that does happen.)

Unfortunately, while still keeping her heart in a box and being so obsessed with not losing her new friends she doesn't realise how much of a control freak she's being. So when she finds out Wilbur has only one client, and its her, she gets to work with her friends help. She gives everyone in TEAM JINTH a task to help save Wilbur and her own modelling career.

However, she doesn't realise she's overstepping the mark. While she sends out all her texts asking her buddies to do this and that, turn up here, bring that thing, Harriet doesn't see that she's pushing them away. No one wants to be organised by someone else. And for one of the group its a little too much.

I must admit, even I was getting a bit irate at Harriet, subconsciously willing her to rein it in. Probably due to being an only child she's always had to make her own fun. Her only friend for her entire life was Natalie. But now Natalie has her own college studies to do. Harriet has to learn the hard way, and she does.

I think there's a small lesson in here for all of us. We can't make people dance to our own tune. A group of friends often work because each person is so different. And lets face it, no one wants someone else telling you what to do all day, especially when you're supposed to be relaxing and having a fun time.

Head Over Heels was a good learning curve for Harriet that was a long time coming. I'm excited for her and Jasper but I wonder what's in store with the ending. Harriet and Nats are away Down Under. Will the Lion Boy return?

I'll have to wait a couple of weeks to read the finalé (Forever Geek #6) but it'll be worth the wait!
